A long-term employee (nine years) at an Aquaculture Production company was facing persistent absenteeism due to chronic health issues, specifically asthma and lower back pain. The employer, whose operations involve the continuous handling of dusty raw materials and heavy lifting , needed to formally address the situation but lacked experience with complex labor issues.
OML Africa was brought in to advise. Their first critical step was to request an independent medical evaluation to determine the employee's fitness to work and guide the company's next actions.
