This programme prepares aspiring and newly appointed managers to make that transition with confidence. It combines practical management tools, people leadership skills and an appropriate understanding of the manager’s responsibilities to the organisation and its employees.

Explain the role, accountabilities and boundaries of a manager and distinguish management from leadership.
Transition from peer or individual contributor to manager while maintaining professional relationships and credibility.
Set priorities, plan work, allocate resources and delegate effectively.
Communicate expectations clearly, listen actively and adapt communication to different people and situations.
Apply emotional intelligence, inclusive leadership and appropriate motivation techniques to strengthen team performance.
Set performance expectations, monitor progress, coach employees and provide constructive feedback.
Handle difficult conversations, conflict and underperformance in a fair, timely and well-documented manner.
Use sound problem-solving, decision-making, meeting, reporting, time and productivity practices.
Recognise the manager’s responsibilities for ethical conduct, employee wellbeing, confidentiality, workplace policy compliance and timely escalation to Human Resources.
Prepare a personal management development plan and a practical 30–60–90-day action plan.
